A PAUSE IN YOUR EVERY DAY LIFE
Where is the pause button in our
lives? With all the fuss, buzz, hustle, and bustle of our mundane daily
responsibilities we tend to get tired, uninspired, and frustrated. We tend to
lose our spark and spunk of excitement and creativity that we just let
ourselves get sucked back into the mentality of “life as usual”. Sometimes, we
need a “comma” (,) in our lives to regenerate and see that life is great—we are
great.
I too, am stuck with the same weekly
routine which was “work-house-work-house” and same thing happens over and over
again which I felt too drained to exert energy or to devote time to create or
even write. I just spent the past weeks eating and sleeping and going to work.
Basically, I spent the whole month demotivated and lazy. I thought that was
enough rest—physically, yes but not solely.
Last weekend, I spent a bit of my time at
Apostrophe Café with my best friend and stumbled upon this quote on the counter
which says “A PAUSE IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE”. I then realized that the “pause”
that I’ve been doing were wrong. To pause is to rest but not to be lazy.
Sometimes a pause may be times you spend with your family or friends. It may be
times of taking photos or making illustrations for art and fun. It may also be
moments spent alone to just finish the book that you’ve read halfway or to
listen and sing your heart out to your favorite Celine Dion song 😁. In short, to
pause is to heal, grow, and become a better version of yourself.
So let’s encourage ourselves to
pause. Let’s add a simple “,” but not a “.” in our daily route. Just a moment
to break out from our everyday and know that when we are faced with obstacles
we can still feel joy, and can still laugh and see the blessing in the simple
things around us. So where’s this pause button? It is actually within us. And
it is up to us whether we choose to press this button or not.
‘til next time :)
